(WNFL)- Brewers' third baseman Aramis Ramirez could return by early next week. The veteran clean-up man is recovering from a strained left hamstring. He was eligible to come off the 15-day disabled list yesterday, but didn't. Manager Ron Roenicke said Ramirez is swinging a bat with no trouble -- and he'll start fielding ground balls today. The skipper said Ramirez is at 60-to-70 percent of his full running speed, and he's coming along well. It's possible that Ramirez could return for the Brewers' two-game home series with Minnesota next Monday and Tuesday. Or he could be a designated hitter when the Crew travels to Minneapolis for a pair of games next Wednesday and Thursday. Roenicke says he'd like Ramirez to have some minor league at-bats before he returns -- but with his veteran service, Ramirez can veto such a move. He did just that a year ago, when he came off the D-L without minor league rehab.
