MADISON, WI (WTAQ) - A newly hired communications' official for the University of Wisconsin System was fired from his last job in Arkansas.
John Diamond was hired last week as the UW's interim associated vice president for strategic communications and external relations.
The Associated Press said Diamond was fired last fall for insubordination, after he and his supervisor at the University of Arkansas had a disagreement. It had to do with a request for open records filed by a newspaper -- and Diamond said he was let go because of a disagreement over how accountable the school should be to the public.
Diamond had spent the last three years at Arkansas, after 21 years as an official at the University of Maine. He spent eight years in public office in Maine, and was a former Democratic state representative there.
