ASHWAUBENON, WI (WTAQ) - The Salvation Army of Brown County is welcoming 18,000 cans of Campbell's soup that was donated through the Sacks for Soup campaign.
"It helps us with our budget, and more important in fact, it helps us with the people in the community who come to us for food. We have something more to give them to help solve their food shortage problems," says Capt. Ken Shiels, Brown County Coordinator for the Salvation Army. "The fact is, we've had to deal with some shortages recently, just not enough to go around, and this donation helps us to increase the food we can give to people."
Through the Sacks for Soup campaign, Campbell Soup Company made donations of 1,000 cans of soup to a food bank in the opposing city during the Green Bay Packers 2013 season. They also donated 1,000 cans to the Salvation Army food pantry each week throughout the season, including the playoffs.
