The Marquette Golden Eagles will need a big run in the Big East tournament if they have any hope of making it to the bigger dance. Marquette fell to Providence 81-80 in double overtime Tuesday night. Bryce Cotton hit a pair of free throwns with 7.2 seconds to play in the second overtime to put the Friars on top. Todd Mayo's shot at the buzzer missed off the rim. Mayo finished with 26 points and 11 rebounds and the Golden Eagles also got a strong game from Davante Gardner with 15 points and 10 boards. Marquette slips to 18-12 overall and they are just 9-8 in the Big East after being the pre-season pick to win the league. They'll wrap up the regular season Saturday hosting St. John's.
