MADISON, Wis (WSAU-MetroSource) If legislative Democrats are successful passing a bill to legalize marijuana in Wisconsin, expect a veto from Governor Walker. He says the time isn’t right to have the discussion now, but would consider it if more states legalize medical marijuana.
Twenty states have laws allowing for that, with 14 others considering it.
A bill sponsored by Representative Melissa Sargent would legalize pot for both recreational and medicinal purposes.
A separate bill, that would allow marijuana in pill form as an anti-seizure drug, has been approved in committee. There’s another bill that would allow for commercial hemp production, but it is not expected to come up for a vote.
