EAU CLAIRE, WI (WTAQ) - The Academy Awards will air tonight, but a Eau Claire native has already won an Oscar.

71-year-old Peter Anderson received the Gordon E. Sawyer award for his technological contributions in visual effects and cinematography.

Anderson played a role in some ground-breaking effects in some of Hollywood’s biggest movies… including “Tron”, “Close Encounters of the Third Kind” and “Godzilla”.
