Second suitcase body identified as Oregon woman who disappeared

ELKHORN, WI (WTAQ) - Authorities confirmed Monday afternoon that the second woman found dead in a pair of suitcases near Lake Geneva was 19-year-old Jenny Gamez of Cottage Grove Oregon.

A TV station in Eugene Oregon reported over the weekend that police in Cottage Grove were working with Wisconsin authorities to confirm Gamez' dental records.

At a news conference, officials said Gamez was believed to have been killed in Kenosha -- so that city's police department will investigate the slaying.

The suitcases with the two sets of remains were found June 5th near Lake Geneva.

Former West Allis police officer Steven Zelich is charged in Walworth County with two counts of hiding a corpse. Prosecutors said Zelich will face homicide charges in the places where the women were killed.

Authorities said last week that the other victim, 37-year-old Laura Simonson, was killed at a hotel room in Rochester Minnesota.

As for the possibility of other victims, Walworth County Undersheriff Kurt Picknell said that's a "wide open" question for right now.

Investigators said the 52-year-old Zelich met the women online before meeting and killing them, and then holding their corpses for more than a year in one instance.
