Rockies finally climb over Brewers

by

The Milwaukee Brewers couldn't finish off only their third season series sweep of an opponent in franchise  history as the Colorado Rockies salvaged the final meeting of the year, 10-4 at Miller Park Sunday.  The Rockies had lost the first six games against the Brewers this season including three straight in Milwaukee.   Yovani Gallardo got rocked for three runs in the first inning and Colorado tacked on single runs in the third and fourth to build a 5-0 lead.  Gallardo (5-5) lasted until the 5th, giving up 10 hits and 8 runs, five of them were earned.   Ryan Braun's 11th homer of the year, off former Brewer Jorge DeLaRosa, got Milwaukee on the board. Khris Davis drove in a pair as the Brewers battled back into the game.  Errors on Jeff Bianchi and Aramis Ramirez allowed three more runs to score in the 5th.  Brandon Kintzler gave up two runs in the 8th as Colorado won comfortably.  It was the Brewers' 20th game in 20 days.  They went 13-7 during the stretch which helped them to a 51-33 record, good for a six and a half game lead in the NL Central.  After an off day Monday, the Brewers travel to Toronto to meet the Blue Jays Tuesday night.
