APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) - Outagamie County's Finance Committee has unanimously endorsed the sale of a county-owned lot to the city of Appleton.
By a 5-0 vote, members sent the issue to the county's Property Committee next Tuesday. If approved there, the full County Board could vote on the deal later that night.
It still needs approval by Appleton's Common Council. That vote could happen sometime next month.
Under the terms, Appleton would pay the county just over $2 million for the land, plus provide the county with parking spots to make up for those being lost. The lot is intended to be used for the building of a convention center.
The expo center would be attached to the Radisson Paper Valley Hotel. Increased room taxes in several communities also need to be okayed to help pay for the $28 million project.
