MADISON, Wis. (WSAU) -- A proposed expansion at a Superior crude oil facility drew more public comments about unrelated projects than what was up for review.
An air construction permit to expand storage tank capacity was approved by the Department of Natural Resources Thursday. Enbridge wants to add three more above ground storage tanks to the site, which already has 40 storage tanks. Two other new tanks are already approved and under construction.
DNR spokesman Bill Cosh says the project is for Enbridge’s Superior terminal. He says most of the 200 written comments and 3,400 emails from the public commented on Enbridge’s oil pipeline, which is not part of this review process.
Several other comments requested the DNR to perform an environmental impact review or assessment. Cosh said the DNR did those assessments, and this air permit doesn’t require additional analysis.
