(WNFL)- ESPN says six teams appear to be in the running for Boston starter Jon Lester -- and Milwaukee is not one of them. The cable sports giant said the Pittsburgh Pirates have had talks with Red Sox officials about a possible deal for Lester. The others reportedly still in the running are Saint Louis, Toronto, Baltimore, Oakland, and the LA Dodgers. The non-waiver trade deadline is tomorrow afternoon, and the Brewers reportedly expressed an interest in obtaining Lester. He's been scratched from his scheduled start tonight. Lester becomes a free agent at the end of the season, and observers have wondered if the Brewers could afford losing a prospect like Jimmy Nelson to get somebody who will probably be around for just three months. The Pirates are just a game behind first-place Milwaukee in the National League Central Division. Saint Louis is one-and-a-half back in third place, and they'll host the Brewers in a three-game series this weekend.
