MILWAUKEE (WTAQ) - A federal appeals court will hear arguments September 9th on a request to continue the John Doe probe into Wisconsin's recall elections.
State prosecutors will tell a three-judge panel why it should throw out Federal Judge Rudolph Randa's order to halt the investigation. Randa cut off the probe in May, saying it violated the free speech rights of one of the targets -- the Wisconsin Club for Growth.
The investigation was looking into allegations that Governor Scott Walker and other GOP senators were illegally coordinating their recall campaigns with outside conservative groups. Walker has denied the allegations.
Also, the federal court panel will hear arguments on a request by 5 media groups to make all the records in the John Doe probe public. Some of them have already come out.
