DULUTH, MN (WTAQ) - Firefighters from Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Upper Michigan were heading to Washington State Friday, to help put out wildfires which have threatened hundreds of homes.
About 40 firefighters from the Gopher State joined two crews from Wisconsin and one from the U.P. They all went to a mobilization center in Duluth.
A national fire control center was sending an aircraft Friday to take them to the Pacific Northwest.
At last word, over 1,000 firefighters were battling numerous wildfires throughout Washington -- including the Mills Canyon Fire which has covered 35 square miles.
