GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) - Green Bay police say they've arrested a man who tried breaking into an ATM at a bank Friday morning.
Around 6 a.m., workers at Johnson Bank, 318 S. Washington Street noticed damage in the building foyer and to an ATM there. Cops collected evidence and watched surveillance video. The video showed a man causing damage and trying to get into the ATM. No money was taken.
During the investigation, officers got a call that a man was damaging property in the lobby of the Quality Inn and Suites across the street. Police found the 40-year-old man, who said he was homeless and looking for money to get a car and get out of town.
Authorities confirmed the man, who had minor injuries to his hands, was the one seen in the bank's surveillance video.
Cops say the suspect recently came to the area and has yet to be formally charged.
