MILWAUKEE (WTAQ) - A man who escaped authorities in Merrill for eight months has finally been arrested.
Lincoln County sheriff's deputies said 37-year-old Christopher Meindel was one of their "most wanted" fugitives. He was arrested for his alleged involvement in a widespread methamphetamine ring.
Authorities said he slipped out of an ankle monitoring bracelet last May and ran off. A statewide alert was issued for Meindel, who was considered armed and dangerous.
He was taken into custody Thursday in Milwaukee, at the Zablocki VA Medical Center. Meindel did not identify himself to officers -- but they had enough to arrest him after finding several "edged" weapons, two air soft handguns, and methamphetamines.
West Milwaukee Police made him give his fingerprints -- and that's how they learned who he was.
Meindel faces a laundry list of charges in Lincoln County, including manufacturing meth.
