Gift from Schneider helps SNC create business school

by

DE PERE, WI (WTAQ) - A school of business and economics, along with the start of a master of business administration program, is coming to St. Norbert College.

It's being helped by the $7 million donation from Pat Schneider. Schneider's husband, Don, ran the trucking company Schneider National for many years.

Don Schneider graduated in 1957 from St. Norbert College. He was a member of St. Norbert’s board of trustees from 1978 until his death in 2012.

“The Donald J. Schneider School of Business and Economics will provide the highest-quality education for business and not-for-profit leaders,” St. Norbert President Thomas Kunkel said in a news release. “Building on St. Norbert’s firm grounding in the liberal arts and its commitment to ethics instruction, the new MBA program will position the college as the intellectual center of values-based business education in northeastern Wisconsin.”

The college’s existing business administration and economics departments will become part of the new school, and more faculty and staff members will be hired. It will also have an advisory board made up of area business leaders.

The MBA program is expected to begin in 2015.
