Badgers take down Spartans

The 24th ranked Wisconsin Badgers got a huge lift by beating 8th ranked Michigan State before a raucus crowd at the Kohl Center Sunday afternoon 60-58.    The win snapped a three game losing streak at home for the Badgers.  Traevon Jackson knocked down a pull up jumper with 2.1 seconds to play for the final margin.   A half court, three point try by Michigan State's Travis Trice glanced off the rim at the horn.   Freshman Nigel Hayes led Wisconsin with 14 points.  Sam Dekker and Josh Gasser each scored 11.  Gasser also drew the defensive assignment against Michigan State's leading scorer, Gary Harris.  He was held to six points on three of 20 shooting from the floor.  Two of his baskets were breakaway dunks in the second half.  A Frank Kaminsky three gave Wiscconsin a 58-53 lead with only 27 seconds left but Harris made a two point shot and after Ben Brust missed the front end of a bonus free throw,  Adreian Payne drilled a three with just over 8 seconds to play.   Jackson brought the ball up the floor, veered to his left and hit the 12 foot jumper for the win.  The Badgers (19-5, 6-5) moved into a tie for 4th place in the Big Ten with the victory.
