Burke now supports larger jump in minimum wage

MADISON, Wis. (WSAU) -- The Democratic candidate for Governor supports raising the state’s minimum wage. Mary Burke took that position during an interview on the Sunday morning statewide syndicated television program, “Up Front with Mike Gousha.”

Burke was already in favor of a smaller 35 cent per hour increase, but now supports the larger jump to $10.10 per hour proposed by her fellow Democrats. She says the increase would allow people to better support themselves.

Burke and the Democrat’s position on the minimum wage issue is exactly opposite of what Republicans support. Republicans including Governor Scott Walker believe the increase would lead to less job growth and damage the state’s recovering economy.
