Gas prices should fall more

UNDATED (WXPR) -- Gas prices are likely to continue to fall over the next several weeks...but not as fast as they did in July.

That's the assessment of Senior Petroleum Analyst for the gas price watchdog website gas buddy dot com, Gregg Laskoski.  "We expect these prices to decline incrementally through August. We don't think we will see a rate of decline that was quite as aggressive as we saw in July. But we still think there is room for these prices to move lower. In all likelihood to see greater declines once we get past mid September.”

Why are prices falling? There's still plenty of gas in the pipeline. Laskoski says after mid September, the refineries switch to winter-grade fuel.

The Wisconsin statewide average is $3.46 per gallon regular unleaded. Gas prices are 17 cents per gallon lower than one year ago and 21 cents per gallon lower than a month ago. Prices in Rhinelander and Three Lakes were at $3.59 per gallon, Minocqua is at $3.57 a gallon.
