(WNFL)- The Wisconsin Badgers' football camp will open Monday with a wide-open competition for the two starting wide receivers. There are eight candidates, including three freshmen. None of the five returning players have had the big-play ability of Jared Abbrederis -- who had 15 catches of 20 yards or more last season with an average of almost 37 yards per reception. This year, Abbrederis is trying to win a spot on the Green Bay Packers -- which leaves senior Kenzel Doe and junior Jordan Frederick as the most tenured returning players. Doe had seven catches a year ago, and Frederick ten. Sophomore Robert Wheelwright, a tall wide-out at 6-2, had just two catches for nine yards a year ago. Badgers' coach Gary Andersen said this could be the year he breaks out. Also back are sophomores Alex Erickson and Reggie Love. Jazz Peavy red-shirted in his initial season last year due to a lingering hamstring injury. The three true freshmen being considered are Krenwick Sanders, Natrell Jamerson, and George Rushing.
