CLAYTON, Wis. (WSAU-Wheeler News) -- A Winnebago County woman is facing several animal abuse charges after authorities discovered around two dozen animals living in deplorable conditions.
The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office says 17 horses and five dogs were rescued from the home of a 51-year-old unidentified Clayton woman. Authorities say the animals were malnourished and did not look healthy. Three other horses were found dead. Health officials have also declared the house unlivable.
The woman is in police custody. The horses have been relocated to a local rescue, while the dogs have been relocated to the Oshkosh Humane Society.
