Senator questions validity of mining opponent's vote

MADISON, Wis. (WSAU) -- A northern Wisconsin Senator has called upon election officials to review one person’s vote.

Senator Tom Tiffany of Hazelhurst asked the Government Accountability Board and Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen to look into the vote of Nick Vander Puy.

Vander Puy voted, but Tiffany questions if he is eligible in Iron County. Vander Puy comments on social media about voting as a homeless person in Upson, Wisconsin yet is one of the people illegally camping at “Harvest Camp” near the proposed Iron County mining site.

Tiffany wants to know if Vander Puy has a permanent address and where that is. The Senator also wants to know if he voted in more than one place Tuesday, and if his lengthy illegal stay on Iron County land invalidates his vote in the Iron County Town of Anderson.
