GORDON, Wis. (WSAU) - Another devastating fire struck the northwestern Wisconsin community of Gordon Thursday. Back in May, the Gordon Fire Hall served as the command post for the Germann Road Forest Fire that destroyed 17 homes, and a total of 47 structures. The nearly nine-thousand acre blaze took a couple of days to put out.
This time, fire struck the fire station itself. The recently-enlarged building and at least six fire trucks were destroyed by the blaze.
Witnesses reported hearing explosions, and Town Constable George Booth reported the blaze just before noon. The building quickly became fully engulfed in flames.
