Flags at half-staff for Patriot's Day

UNDATED (WSAU) - Flags are at half-staff for Patriot’s Day, the national day to honor the victims of the terrorist attacks of September 11th, 2001.

It was twelve years ago when terrorists hijacked four commercial airplanes and flew three of the planes into the twin towers of the World Trade Center, and the Pentagon. Two United Airlines flights and two American Airlines flights were hijacked.

Passengers aboard United Flight 93 were able to overcome the Washington, D.C. bound hijackers and crash land near Shanksville, Pennsylvania. Nearly 3,000 people died in the attacks.

Along with the flags being at half-staff, there will be memorial services around the country, and a moment of silence in remembrance of the victims.
