APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) - Gov. Walker characterized the Menominee Nation’s argument last week that they met all of the criteria for a new casino as “interesting and compelling”.
The big hurdle right now is getting approval from the last two of the state’s 11 tribes, Potawatomi and Ho-Chunk. The Menominee claim both tribes already approved any new casino years ago under other signed agreements.
While in Appleton Wednesday, Walker says he will continue toreview the proposal until Friday and then will make a decision “within a week or so, but no more than that.”
Walker has the final approval for the casino that could create more than 3,000 jobs in the Kenosha area.
The Menomonee wants to build an off-reservation Hard Rock Casino and Resort in Kenosha.
