NEENAH, WI (WTAQ) - Authorities in Winnebago County say a 22-year-old man has been arrested following an attempted homicide at his ex-girlfriend's home.
Police say the man hid in her yard in the 900 block of Byrd Avenue around 3:30 a.m. Saturday armed with a shotgun. As soon as the 24-year-old Neenah woman came outside, the man pushed the weapon into her shoulder.
The woman then pushed the barrel of the gun away from her shoulder and the suspect fired a shot, just missing her, according to officials.
Authorities say a 24-year-old man then came out of the apartment to help the woman and the suspect pointed the gun at him. The man pushed the shotgun away and the suspect fired another shot, again missing his target.
Authorities say the 24-year-old man then struck the 22-year-old suspect repeatedly, disarming him. The suspect then fled on foot, leaving the weapon on the ground.
The suspect was taken into custody and is jailed on two counts of attempted murder. He was taken to a local hospital for injuries sustained after he fired at the 24-year-old man.
Police say the two victims were not injured during the incident. No names have been released.
