BELLEVUE, WI (WTAQ) - The Brown County Drug Task Force says if trends continue drug related arrests will be up by five percent or more for the year.
So far through September, there have been 488 arrests, and Sheriff’s figure that will be approaching 650 arrests by the end of the year.
Lt. David Poteat says there has been nearly 580 felony offenses and 436 misdemeanor offenses.
Marijuana and cocaine is down, but heroin continues to take hold in northeast Wisconsin. Seizures through the 3rd quarter up 271% compared to all of last year.
Poteat says what stands out for them is the number of heroin dealers picked up in the area. There have been 55 arrests for distribution, more than half as many as for all of last year.
