State helping craft brewers with label apps during shutdown

MADISON, WI (WTAQ) - State tax officials say in-state brewers will be allowed to sell new beers in the state during the federal government shutdown.

The Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau is one of several federal agencies closed because of the partial shutdown, preventing approval of new products on the shelves.

Wisconsin Department of Revenue officials say new labels can be sold in-state if an application with the federal agency is completed.

The announcement does not cover approval for new recipes.
