PULASKI, Wis. (WSAU) -- State officials are starting recovery proceedings against a Arkansas based canning company with a plant in central Wisconsin.

The Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection has initiated a default proceeding against the Allens company after the company declared Chapter 11 bankruptcy. The company has a vegetable plant in Pulaski, and a number of farmers have complained to the state over non-payment for crops they already sold. Producer security chief Eric Hanson says the state's program covers situations like this. "We cover grain, vegetables and milk under the agricultural producer security program. This is very similar to the Ruby Grain default."

Hanson says anyone with a claim should report it immediately. "We started a recovery proceeding formally just last week, and claims are required to be filed by December 20."

To make a claim, please Eric Hanson at 608-224-4968 or via email: Eric.Hanson@wi.gov
