GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) - Over 1,100 electric customers in Wisconsin were without power at mid-day, as strong winds continue to blow across parts of the state.
The Wisconsin Public Service utility had almost 940 customers in the dark as of 11 a.m. 70 percent of those were in the Eagle River and Boulder Junction areas.
We Energies about 160 customers out -- 16 in the Rhinelander area, and the rest in the Milwaukee region.
Wisconsin Power and Light had about 40 customers out in south central areas, and Xcel Energy had around 20 customers without power in the Eau Claire region.
Racine had the strongest wind gusts in Wisconsin late Monday morning, at 45 miles an hour. Gusts were reaching the 20's and 30's elsewhere in the state.
The far north had snow flurries, while the far south had partly sunny skies in some spots. Most of Wisconsin was cloudy just before the noon hour.
Clearing skies were expected later Monday afternoon, with overnight lows falling into the 20's.
