The first round of the WIAA state golf championships took place Tuesday with Regional meets. In Division 1, Pulaski, led by medalist Owen Nowicki, took the regional title at Royal Scot Golf Course with a 317 total, 8 strokes ahead of Bay Port. Green Bay Preble and Green Bay Southwest also qualified for the sectional meet next week. Nowicki fired the low round of the day with a 76. The Division 1 sectional will be at Ledgeview next Tuesday. In Division 2, Green Bay Notre Dame won the regional played at Indianhead in Mosinee. The Tritons shot 309, 32 strokes better than second place Marinette. Seymour and Bonduel also advanced as a team. Ben Bobinski of Notre Dame was medalist at 75. Also in Division 2, Wrightstown captured their own regional at Hilly Haven with a score of 323, 18 shots ahead of Two Rivers. Luxemburg-Casco and Manitowoc Roncalli will also move on. The Tigers' James Block brought home the low the score at 77. Notre Dame will host the Division 2 sectional at Thornberry Creek next week.
