The Milwaukee Brewers dreadful month of May continues with a 3-1 loss to the Pirates at Pittsburgh's PNC Park Wednesday night. The Brewers have dropped 11 of their last 13 games and the slump has now carried them to the basement of the National League Central Division. Wandy Rodriguez and Yovani Gallardo were hooked up in a pitcher's duel through the first five innings. In the sixth, Gallardo gave up a bases loaded, two run single to Neil Walker, one of only four Pirate hits on the night. The Brewers cut the lead in half in the 7th on a Rickie Weeks solo home run but a Weeks error allowed the Pirates' third run in in the bottom of the 8th. Milwaukee (16-22) slipped a half game behind the Cubs for last in the division and will close out the four game series in Pittsburgh Thursday night with Hiram Burgos facing Francisco Liriano. Pre-Game coverage on WTAQ begins at 5;30 PM.
The Brewers have re-activated veteran reliever Francisco Rodriguez. K-Rod had been working in the minors after signing with Milwaukee earlier this year. The Brewers faced a deadline to either bring Rodriguez back to the parent club or release him. He'll make just over two million dollars for the season. To make room on the roster, the Brewers optioned Blake Lalli to Triple A Nashville.
