Brewers see Reds sweep

Milwaukee Brewers
Milwaukee Brewers

The slumping Milwaukee Brewers were swept out of the Great American Ballpark on Mothers Day, falling to the Reds for the third straight time, 5-1.   Donald Lutz became the first German born player to hit a major league home run by swatting a three run blast off the right field foul pole against Wily Peralta in the second inning. Xavier Paul also went deep for the Reds, a solo shot off just recalled reliever Mike Fiers in the seventh.  The only Brewers run was scored by Alex Gonzalez on a passed ball in the 8th.  Peralta (3-3) took the loss, working six innings, giving up five hits and four runs, three of them were earned as Milwaukee comitted a pair of errors.   Bronson Arroyo pitched six and two thirds scoreless innings, allowing five hits for his third win against four losses.   Milwaukee managed 7 hits in the game, Jean Segura and Yuniesky Betancourt each had a pair.  The Brewers are now just 1-9 in the month of May and have slipped to 15-20 on the season, seven and a half games behind division leading St. Louis.  The Brewers road trip continues with a four game series in Pittsburgh.  Marco Estrada faces A.J. Burnett in the opener at PNC Park Monday night.  Pre-game coverage begins at 5:30 PM on WTAQ.
