Two Green Bay police officers taking part in state law enforcement memorial ceremony

GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) - Two members of the Green Bay police department will take part in Friday's ceremony honoring officers killed in the line of duty at the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Memorial.

Officer Bob Matheny and Captain Bill Galvin will be part of the honor guard.

"It's a sense of duty, to show respect and honor the officers in Green Bay, Brown County and the state of Wisconsin that have given so much of their time and effort," says Galvin. "Even more so for those who have given their lives to protect the people of Wisconsin."

Galvin says it will get emotional for officers, family and spectators during the 23rd annual ceremony on the Capitol grounds in Madison.

"It can be very difficult, especially when a family member or a loved one of an officer that has given their life is speaking, it can really choke you up," says Galvin. "When you hear the bagpipes, or the bugler, that's also another time that really strikes a chord when you can see emotions going across their faces."

Five Wisconsin law enforcement officers will be added to the memorial during the ceremony. That includes Wauwatosa officer Jennifer Sebena, who was gunned down on Christmas Eve. Her husband has been charged with the crime.
