Pipeline repairs expected this summer

Exposed pipeline in Wisconsin during the repair process last week
Exposed pipeline in Wisconsin during the repair process last week

JACKSON (WSAU-Wheeler News)   The owners of a gasoline pipeline that ruptured in southeast Wisconsin last summer will soon repair nine sections of degraded pipes. But first, a temporary dam is being installed to prevent water from Evergreen Creek from flowing into the pipeline’s right-of-way near the Jackson Marsh Wildlife Area near Jackson.

About 54,000 gallons of gasoline spilled from the line last July, raising concerns about possible fuel shortages as far north as Green Bay. Those shortages never occurred, because the line came back online quicker than expected. An inspection last December uncovered the degraded pipe within Jackson Marsh. Almost a dozen other sections of the pipeline were fixed earlier this year between West Bend and Germantown.

Buckeye Partners, which operates the facility for the West Shore Pipeline Company, says the new repairs will be finished in 4-to-6 weeks.
