MADISON, WI (WTAQ) - Governor Scott Walker says he wants the board of the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation to review every point of a condemning audit released last week.
Walker chairs the WEDC Board, and hopes the panel can review the audit as early Wednesday.
On Thursday, the Legislature’s Audit Committee will hold a hearing to explore how things went wrong with the public-private job creation agency which replaced the state Commerce Department in 2011.
Also on Thursday, the Legislature’s Joint Finance Committee will review the corporation’s proposed tax budget for the next two years.
The non-partisan Legislative Audit Bureau found that the WEDC broke state laws by not adopting required policies.
It gave job creation tax funds to ineligible recipients and did not do an adequate job of keeping track of the agency’s economic development projects.
