MADISON, WI (WTAQ) - Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker has paid a Chicago law firm a little over a quarter-million dollars to empty a legal defense fund he had created.
The fund was set up which prosecutors were secretly investigating illegal campaign activity by his aides and associates while Walker was Milwaukee County Executive.
Six people were charged in a John Doe investigation.
The governor maintained all along he did nothing wrong and he said he was cooperating with investigators. He was never charged with any wrongdoing in the case and prosecutors ended the investigation earlier this month.
