Aaron Rodgers is about to become the highest paid player in NFL history. ESPN and other outlets are reporting the Green Bay Packers and Rodgers are close to finalizing a four year contract extension that could be worth up to 100 million dollars. Rodgers has two years left on his existing contract scheduled to pay him nine and a quarter million dollars in 2013, 10.5 million next year. Tacking on four more years at up to 25 million a season would have Rodgers leapfrog over the contract Joe Flacco signed with the Baltimore Ravens last month. The Packers want to structure the deal that will give them salary cap flexability to negotiate long term contracts for the likes of Clay Matthews and B.J. Raji.
