Green Bay Notre Dame head coach Sara Rhode was named the girls high school coach of the year by the Associated Press on Wednesday. After starting the season 5-4, Rhode led the Tritons all the way to the Division 2 state championship last weekend as Notre Dame defeated New Berlin Eisenhower 42-33. The Tritons finished 22-6 in Rhode's second year at the helm. Junior guard Allison LeClaire was named to the All State second team. Brenna Heise of New London was named to the 4th team and several players garnered honorable mention. They included Kelsey Stangel of Division 3 repeat champion Kewaunee, Taylor Schmidt of Division 4 champion Algoma, Morgan Anderson of De Pere and Chelsea Nooker of Bay Port. Sophomore Arike Ogunbowale of Milwauke Divine Savior Holy Angels was named the state's player of the year.
