EAA AirVenture to feature B-29 and B-24 again this summer

OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ) - EAA officials are announcing that two of World War II's most iconic aircraft are returning to AirVenture this summer.

The Boeing B-29 Superfortress and the Consolidated B-24 Liberator will be among the two most noteworthy of the hundreds of warbird aircraft at the weeklong event.

Both historic planes will participate in the AirVenture air shows during the week.

In addition, the B-29 will be available for flights that week at the Outagamie Regional Airport in Greenville.

"These two aircraft are always popular, not only because of their historical importance from the World War II era, but because flying examples of them are so rare," said Jim DiMatteo, EAA's vice president of AirVenture features and attractions in a release.

The Boeing B-29 is the only one still flying in the world. Flight opportunities will be announced in the near future at airpowersquadron.org.

AirVenture 2013 runs from July 29 through August 4.
