MANITOWOC, WI (WTAQ) - A plant in Manitowoc that makes towers for wind energy turbines will stay busy for a while.
Broadwind Energy has announced a $35 million order to provide towers to a U.S. manufacturer of wind turbines.
The towers will be for a variety of wind energy projects throughout the country. They’ll all be made in Manitowoc, for delivery before the end of this year.
Broadwind Energy CEO Peter Duprey said his company’s tower business is strong – and today’s order gets the company closer to filling its production capacity for 2013.
Broadwind Energy is based in suburban Chicago. It has about 800 workers at facilities around the country – including plants in Manitowoc and Abilene Texas.
