RHINELANDER, WI  (WSAU)  -   The Mining Bill is now the Mining Law.  SB-1 was signed by Governor Scott Walker Monday afternoon at a Rhinelander manufacturer that makes and sells mining equipment.  The Oldenburg Group, Inc. hosted the Governor and several area dignitaries for the signing ceremony.

Wayne Oldenburg says many companies around the state including theirs make Wisconsin one of the top, if not the top, supplier of mining equipment in the country.  He welcomes the opportunity to do more business in his home state and see the positive economic effect on the  region.

Governor Scott Walker said this will lead to some 3,000 construction related jobs and another 2,800 other permanent jobs on-site at the mine or at supporting businesses around the state.  He says this won't happen overnight, but it will build a generational job source that will be around for a long time.

Walker says he was asked if he would thank the Legislature for bringing this political victory.  He says no, he will thank the Legislature for the people this will help employ.

A second ceremonial signing is set for later today at P & H Mining Equipment in Milwaukee beginning at 5:30 p.m.
