WAUKESHA, WI (WTAQ) - An Ohio company has offered $5.5 million to buy the Golden Guernsey dairy plant in Waukesha that’s been closed for two months.
The plant filed for bankruptcy soon after it closed – and trustee Charlie Stanziale said the parent company of the Superior Dairy, LEL Operating Company, has become the first bidder for the Waukesha plant.
The firm put down a half-million dollar deposit. A private equity firm from Los Angeles owned the facility when it was closed January 5th.
About 100 people were put out of work, and hundreds of schools throughout southeast Wisconsin had to scramble during a weekend to find new suppliers for the milk which Golden Guernsey had provided.
