GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) - Increasing gun violence in a Green Bay neighborhood has everyone, including police, saying the events are “alarming”.
A section of North Ashland Avenue was the scene of an unsolved shooting back in January that hospitalized four people, there is an unsolved gun murder from mid-May, and a gun was fired over the weekend that led to two arrests. One arrest involved a felon for gun possession.
District Captain Bill Bongle says people are understandably concerned, but adds these events were targeted, and not random.
While knowing that, it isn’t quelling fears among residents who are constantly calling the Green Bay PD about the gun violence
All the incidents happened in the 100 and 200 blocks of North Ashland.
Bongle says folks will see an increase presence in the area, including extra patrols, officers on bikes and Community Service Interns walking the neighborhood.
Bongle say these are blips on the radar in a nice neighborhood, and “we” are going to get through this.
