GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) - Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker has announced a tuition freeze at UW System schools.
On Tuesday, Governor Walker talked about the decision during a stop at UW-Green Bay.
UW students last year saw a between 6 and 6.5% tuition hike.
This tuition freeze announcement comes as the Joint Finance Committee meets in Madison, discussing the state budget.
Previously, the UW System has had issues with funding cuts in Walker’s budget proposal.
However, an audit in April showed a $648.2 million UW System-wide surplus, which caused some Republicans in the Legislature to call for a possible tuition refund.
