A's roll over Brewers

by

The Oakland A's took the lead on the third pitch of the game and never stopped swinging in routing the Milwaukee Brewers at Miller Park Monday nigh 10-2.  Coco Crisp launched the leadoff home run against Marco Estrada, who gave up another blast to Brandon Moss in the second inning.  The wheels came off in a six run 5th inning.   Estrada faced only the first three batters without recording an out, leaving the game with what was described as a lower body injury.  The bullpen didn't fare much better as Oakland, winners in 10 of their last 12 games, racked up a season high 19 hits.   Tommy Millone pitched 7 innings, giving up five hits and two runs, a fifth inning two run homer from Rickie Weeks.  Millone also helped himself with a couple of hits.  He retired the first 8 batters in order until Estrada blooped a two out single in the third.  The Brewers finished with just six hits in their 8th loss in the last 10 games.   Milwaukee (21-35) sends Kyle Lohse to the hill in game two of the series Tuesday night. Pre-Game coverage begins at 6;35 PM on WTAQ.

The Brewers shook up the roster Monday, handing veteran Alex Gonzalez his release and sending Mike Fiers to Triple A Nashville.   Second baseman Scooter Gennett was called up from Nashville after hitting .297 in the minors.   Milwaukee also traded Double A pitcher Tom Keeling to the Atlanta Braves for a platooning third baseman, Juan Francisco, hitting .241 with five homers and 16 runs batted in in 35 games for the Braves.
