Brewers end May on winning note with 8-5 victory over Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (WTAQ) - Jonathan Lucroy went 5-for-5 with a pair of home runs and four RBIs as the Milwaukee Brewers outslugged the Philadelphia Phillies 8-5 Friday night.

The win ended a six-game losing streak for the Brewers, who finished the month of May with a 6-22 record, tying the club’s worst-ever monthly performance.

Yovani Gallardo started bad, but pitched almost 6 innings to earn his 4th victory and break a personal losing streak at four in a row. Francisco Rodriguez was good for his 2nd save.

The Brewers won despite two homers by Philly outfielder Domonic Brown. Jimmy Rollins also had a home run.

Cole Hamels absorbed his 9th loss in 10 decisions for Philadelphia.

The Phillies send Tyler Cloud to the hill for Saturday’s game. Milwaukee will counter with right hander Mike Fiers, who has a record of 1-3 and an earned run average of 6.62.
