The Milwaukee Brewers finally won without their star, the suspended Ryan Braun, beating the San Diego Padres 3-1 at Miller Park Wednesday night. Major League Baseball suspended the former MVP for the rest of the season on Monday for violating the league's drug policy. The Brewers dropped the first two games of the series before getting big performances from Carlos Gomez and Kyle Lohse. Gomez, mired in a 3 for 43 slump, delivered four hits including a two run double in the third inning. Lohse pitched 7 strong innings, giving up five hits and one run, a solo homer from Nick Hundley. Lohse is 6-1 in his last 11 starts with a 2.51 ERA. John Axford pitched a scoreless 8th and Jim Henderson finished up for his 11th save of the season. Milwaukee (42-58) wraps up the series and the homestand Thursday afternoon with Yovani Gallardo facing Edinson Volquez. Pre-game coverage on WNFL begins at 12;35 PM.
