GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) - Green Bay Police are encouraging the public to use their online crime reporting system.
This service is intended to provide residents an easy option to report certain non-emergency crimes.
Since April of 2013, the GBPD has received over 80 online crime reports.
"A small theft, or a criminal damage, where they don't have any suspects," Lt. Kevin Warych says these are the types of crimes that can be reported. "A local business may report vandalism or graffiti."
Warych says it's effective in that residents can dictate how they want to handle the crime being reported.
"They can fill out the online report on their cell phone, or any other electronic device," says Warych. "We want to encourage people to report crime, because this tool gives them the ability to report a crime when they otherwise may not have because they didn't want to meet with an officer."
If you choose to use the online reporting system, the report will be followed up on within 24 hours by a Community Service Intern or an officer.
