It was a long, wet Sunday for the Milwaukee Brewers as the Pittsburgh Pirates completed a weekend sweep of the Crew, winning 2-1 in 14 innings at PNC Park. Logan Schafer's safety squeeze gave Kyle Lohse a 1-0 lead in the second inning when the rains came. After waiting out a two hour delay, both managers decided it was too long to go back to their starters and while the Brewers bullpen was good, the Pittsburgh pen was even better. The Brewers managed just two hits over the final 12 innings. Pittsburgh got even in the 8th with an RBI single from Andrew McCutcheon and they won it when pinch hitter Russell Martin delivered the walk off single in the 14th. The Pirates have now won nine straight games and improved to 51-30, the best record in baseball. Milwaukee has dropped five in a row and stand at 32-48, last in the NL Central and 18 and a half games behind the Pirates. The Brewers open a four game series in Washington Monday night with Yovani Gallardo facing Jordan Zimmerman. Pre-game coverage from Nationals Park begins at 5:30 PM on WTAQ.
